THE S.U. COMPANY
CONTINUATION No. 2.

Messrs. Rolls-Royce Limited.

then run the pump on double this voltage and see if you can get an ample margin over the amount of petrol required, delivered to the needle seating of the carburetter. We think you will probably find that the pump will work down to about 4 volts, and we hope that you will find that it will give the output required with a suitable air bottle on about 8 volts.

We think that a pump should always be capable of working on half its normal voltage. If you find that these figures are about correct, we can then reduce the loading on the coils accordingly. These coils were originally wound to do a very much heavier job.

If you will let us know whether the pump in the main is likely to be suitable for your purpose, we will then arrange to put dies in hand for steel stampings for the magnets, and will proceed to make up parts for 25 pumps. It seems to us that it is far better for you to try out these tests we have suggested on the chassis, than for us to rig up an arrangement here which will not be identical with your layout.

MADE IN GT BRITAIN

Yours faithfully,
For THE S.U. COMPANY.
