We are sending you under separate cover to-day an experimental pump marked "EX.1" for you to test. We have not done any extensive tests on this as we know that you are in a great hurry for it. We have actually only had the pump assembled this morning. We can supply you with stronger springs if necessary, but if the present springs will do the job with an ample margin, we should like to retain them. This pump should give a delivery pressure of about 2 lbs. The closed circuit loading is considerably higher than on our standard pump, although the mean running consumption is no higher, but since the whole magnet assembly is far more efficient, we think we can reduce the loading conveniently and save wear and tear on the points. We should like you to fit this up on your car in the position in which it will be mounted and to fit a small air bottle on the delivery side of the pump. We have not tried this as we have not had time. Will you then please park the car on a slope, as great as any which it will ever be asked to climb and find out the minimum voltage on which the pump will work. We suggest that you -1- ENGINEERING AND ALLIED EMPLOYERS' NATIONAL FEDERATION 1896 | ||
