S/W. Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} URGENT.Per Bag. 3004- Cx{Major Len W. Cox - Advertising Manager}4/KW11.5.38. Continental Phantom III 39-EX. As you know, we are going to try and sell this car to Mr. C.R.Fairey, and Sg{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} has now asked me to take this matter in hand and endeavour to fix it up. Will you please send me,by return if possible, information concerning this car :- (1) Briefly the differences in the chassis as compared with the standard P.III, as you propose to hand it over to S. (2) The general condition of the chassis, the mileage it has run and the date when we can have it in London. (3) The difference in performance between it and a standard car in respect of acceleration and maximum speed, which is the factor which will help us to sell it to Mr.Fairey, who likes something special as you know. (4) Would it have all the mods.which have been applied to all standard P.III's from time to time, such as,latest type petrol pump, clutch lining, oil cooler and the sundry other bits and pieces that have been added or exchanged from time to time on standard production ? In any case please proceed with the preparation of this car for despatch to London in the condition in which we can sell it as a special job, because I don't suppose I can interest Mr.Fairey very much in it until he is able to see it and possibly try it over a week-end, and therefore I want to be in a position to offer him the car at the time I commence negotiations with him.
