re Mr.Fairey.

You will remember that he had what I would describe as a hotted up Phantom II. He was delighted with it and used it for years.

On many occasions he has told me that, if we would treat a P.III in a similar way, he would buy one but I have never bothered very much about it because, in view of P.III troubles, I have not been particularly anxious for Fairey to have one.

Db.{Donald Bastow - Suspensions} met him the other day and asked him about his Lagonda. He says that in many ways it is quite good, i.e. very fast but the gearbox, he says, is terrible and like a lorry and the brakes are bad, and of course he does not know how long it is going to last.

He again mentioned the question of a hotted up P.III and, as one hopes that we are now through with the worst of our teething troubles, I should be glad if you could tell me next Tuesday what we could do for him different from standard, bearing in mind the use of some of the work which you did on the Continental Phantom.
