Dear Robotham,

We are inclined to agree with you that the Borg & Beck spring clutch centre is better than the rubber one you refer to, but unfortunately we cannot have a Borg & Beck centre without having the Borg & Beck clutch which we do not like because we think it will not stay in balance.

If you are interested in clutch centres, you may like to know that Newton, who you will recollect developed a centrifugal clutch, has produced a new clutch centre with a cushioning device, which we consider better than either of the other two, although we have not yet had a chance of actually trying it on our cars.

Yours sincerely,

[Signature: S B Wilks]
