Re- Accident Chateauroux
--------------------

The latest position is that driver English will in all probability be recovering his passport within a day or so unless the higher judicial authorities over which the judge himself has no control raises an improbable objection.

Messrs. Rolls-Royce again assume responsibility for producing English before the Court at the right moment, i.e. this has been fixed for the 15th January. We hope therefore that English will be able to return to England shortly.

With regard to Pattinson, having withstood the shock of the accident and the operation remarkably well up to now, he is at the present time suffering from a form of nervous commotion which makes it necessary for Pattinson to remain in France and receive the Dr's attention, which will include electrical treatment on his arm.

There is therefore no more question of Pattinson going to Chateauroux to testify before the Judge or going back to England for Christmas as he will have to remain in France until sufficiently fit to travel and we are making arrangements for a Court Order to enable Pattinson to give his testimony to a Judge in Paris as he is not in a state to travel to Chateauroux, in fact the Dr. would not hear of this.

We do not wish anybody to be unduly alarmed by what would appear to be a sudden change in Pattinson's state of health as the Dr. is quite satisfied, but we would like to point out that it is merely the result of shock, nervous and otherwise, which has developed much later in this case than happens normally.
