G.W.H. Re. 31. EX. ACCIDENT. 29th Nov. J.B. English was also examined. The questions put to me were as follows :- I) Did the Car belong to MR.Hives ? A) Yes, it was handed over by you to the firm to be run in France as you contemplated a continental tour and wished to know whether the engine would be satisfactory. 2) Is Mr. Hives English or French ? A) English 3) When did J.B.English come out to France ? A) On the 12th October last 4) Is it usual to run a Customer's Car for so long a period before handing it over ? A) Not always, it was a question of the client. 5) Did we run cars mileage in England, before handing them over ? A) Yes 6) What was the mileage run ? A) About 1.000 (This in view that less would have been ridicoulous (in comparison to the mileage run here.) 7) Why had we the car here a month, then. A) We were awaiting your instructions to either meet you in France or in England. 8) Was English a capable mechanic, steady, sober, etc.? A) Yes. 9) Was the car, chassis, brakes, etc., in good condition ? A) Yes perfect. I went up to Paris on the car the previous Saturday 16th. 10) Was I in charge here ? A) Yes. 11) Are the drivers given a definate route ? A) No, they are at liberty to go where they please so long as they complete the day's work. 12) Did I know the day of the accident that they were going to Tours? A) No. 13) Were you in Paris on the day of the accident ? A) Yes, I was. G.W.H. | ||
