c. Roy.{Sir Henry Royce} 1280 Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Std.7/WH. 29th. March 1938. Messrs.John Marston, Ltd., WOLVERHAMPTON. For the attention of Mr.Dunn. Dear Sirs, Confirming our verbal arrangements of yesterday, you will proceed with the manufacture of two experimental Bentley Radiator shells to PD.131 (four sheets) prints and originals of which were left with you. It is understood that the charge for this work will be £17 - £20, as given to the writer by Mr.Dunn, and we do not expect the upper figure, namely £20, to be exceeded. We would be glad if you would confirm this in a letter. With regard to the second shell (which we decided it would be economic to make while the first one was being constructed) in order to minimise the amount of scrap if for any reason the shape of the first one is not approved we would like you to only carry this as far as is necessary to make the joint production of the two shells economic, i.e. it should not be plated, have its badge, chromium bead, or shutter grille made or fitted etc. etc. until the appearance of the first shell has been approved. It can then be finished off as required. As arranged with Mr.Dunn, the writer will visit your works on Friday next, April 1st., to examine the first Bentley II dummy shutter sets made from the final tools, and also the first Wraith bottom tank pressings and the second car heater which you have completed for us. Yours faithfully, for ROLLS-ROYCE LTD. Experimental Dept. | ||
