To By.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} +6142. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Wst.1/JH. 5.10.36. Phantom III Dynamo with Improved Brush Gear and 36 Slot Armature. _______________________________________ Preliminary bench tests carried out on this dynamo have given results considerably better than the standard machine but we have improved the performance even more so by : (a) Rewinding the armature with 2 turns per coil of 19 S.W.G. (b) Increasing the air gap by +005". We would now like another dynamo embodying these modifications by reducing the armature diameter consistent with the reduction in slot depth caused by only winding 2 turns per coil, and increasing the available field winding space accordingly by lengthening the pole core and possibly increasing the pole face thickness. Will you please arrange to instruct accordingly. We propose issuing a full report on the performance of this new dynamo when bench endurance tests have been completed.
