Messrs. Rolls-Royce, Ltd.,
DERBY.

Dear Mr. West,

I have yours of the 2nd instant, and the Kathanode type of battery in America that you refer to and although rather boosted there at the moment, is a plain straight forward motor car battery but with glass wool separation. In America, the Gould Co. have the Kathanode licence and they recently started the idea of making motor car batteries with such separation. They formed a subsidiary company with a name something like the Kathanode Battery Licencing Corporation so that they could grant Licences to other Battery Makers and I believe that more than one are now marketing such a battery. It is sold as rather the De Luxe type and some have glass wool separation only and some have this with sheets of wood in addition.

We have made up such batteries from time to time at Dagenham for the Air Ministry and other people and if you want to play about with one, there is not the slightest difficulty in making you one and sending it to you. This I hope is the information you require.

Yours sincerely,

G.R.N. Minchin
