EXPERIMENTAL DEPARTMENT. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/CTS.{C. Trot Salt - Carburation}6/JH. 12th. October, 1938. Wellworthy Piston Rings Ltd., Lymington, Hants. Yours ref. M/CP/MK/B. 1256. Dear Sirs, In reply to your letter of October 10th. our order No.72461 for 72 rings was based on the contents of Mr. Blackiths letter ref. FB/EHF.09419 dated Sept. 27th. In the last paragraph of this letter, we refer to the quantity as 72 rings, with a suggestion that the batch might be split to include half of them cell faced. We therefore took this to be a reference to two types of finish only. For the time being therefore, we would prefer to test the two types of ring of which (referring to your letter ref. M/CP/MK/10467/B) dated Oct. 3rd. half the quantity normal and the remaining half cell faced. Yours faithfully, FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LTD. | ||
