we have advanced several theories which have a chance of being fundamentally true."

In the meantime we have been conducting a certain amount of research in the Laboratory, and we believe we have evolved a treatment which reproduces the effect. Certainly the Oxide we produce is black, magnetic, extremely fine grained, and very adherent.

Enclosed with this communication is one of the American rings and a section of a Merlin ring which has been treated by our process. It would be of interest if you would look at these two under magnification, particularly at the places where the Oxide has been removed, and state whether or not in your view the results appear to be similar.

If after this you feel the matter is of interest, we shall as usual, be quite willing to make up some sets of rings for test under your own observation, if you would be good enough to let us know the part number and number off you would like.

Trusting you are well and with kindest regards,

I am,

Yours sincerely,

L.N.T Brooks.
