Messrs. Rolls Royce Ltd.,
DERBY.

For the attention of Mr. Hives.

Dear Mr. Hives,

When I was in Derby last Mr. Rowbotham and I were talking about E.P. Lubricants and the conversation veered round to the possibility of trying an E.P. oil in an engine. We have made some preliminary tests and there does not seem to be any outstanding difficulty either in corrosion or excessive carbon deposit, but naturally I must be a little reticent about advocating a large engine test with a lubricant which possesses somewhat unusual properties. Mr. Rowbotham was of the opinion that it might be worth while to Rolls Royce to make an experiment. Nothing apparently has been done since that conversation and I was a little curious to know whether there is any real interest in increased film rupture strengths in internal combustion engines.

Yours sincerely,
C. C. WAKEFIELD & Co. LIMITED.
