For the attention of Mr. Matthews.

Messrs. Rolls Royce Ltd.,
DERBY.

Dear Sirs,

Aluminium Alloy Main Bearings.

With reference to the visit of your Mr. Matthews to these works on Wednesday last, we enclose herewith amended prints of our present main bearing shells for you to manufacture some blanks in your new die cast aluminium material for use in one of our oil engines.

The part numbers and quantities of half shells required are as follows:-

U.99164 - Main Bearing Shell, rear - 4 halves.
U.98597 - Main Bearing Shell, front, 4 halves.
U.98598 - Main Bearing Shell, Intermediate, 16 halves.
U.98599 - Main Bearing Shell, Centre - 4 halves.

We have purposely increased the quantity of halves to cater for two engines, to cope with any situation which may arise such as mistakes in the final bore of the shells in our shop.

We should be glad if you would inform us to whom we should send our order for this material as the original correspondence commenced with High Duty Alloys, at Slough.

Yours faithfully,
For THE ASSOCIATED EQUIPMENT CO. LTD.,

(G.{Mr Griffiths - Chief Accountant / Mr Gnapp} J.{Mr Johnson W.M.} Rackham).
CHIEF ENGINEER.
