RECEIVED 30 MAY 1931 S/W Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}. from PN.{Mr Northey} Copy to Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} Cx.{Major Len W. Cox - Advertising Manager} 87960. PN.{Mr Northey}1/WT29.5.31. 26-EX. Higher Axle Ratio. Referring to your Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}6/MJ.28.5.31 and our conversation on the 'phone this morning, we have agreed that it would be more satisfactory in connection with the proposed acceleration tests if one of our standard "Phantom II" cars could be available, enabling comparative tests to be made between both 26-EX with a standard axle and with the higher geared axle. The weights would of course be carefully ballasted equally. I have been able to arrange for 129-GN and 26-EX to be both available for these tests on Tuesday and Wednesday next, the days which you suggested. I gather that it is proposed on Tuesday to make comparative tests with the standard gear ratios, after which on Tuesday, late afternoon, 26-EX will go to N. where you will have arranged for the new higher geared axle to be waiting to be fitted to this car. Similar tests will then again be made on the following day, Wednesday, at Brooklands. You will of course have with you 27-EX also. You will get confirmation of the above at 3 o'clock to-day, by Cx.{Major Len W. Cox - Advertising Manager} in my absence. PN.{Mr Northey} | ||
