Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} Typed text: I think you will probably be interested in the following extract from letter received from Mr. Gowen, who runs a 20/25 h.p., a 25/30 h.p. and has recently acquired a Bentley in place of his last American car. "I am very grateful to you for all you are doing for the steering of the Bentley, but I realise it will take some time to work out. The steering on the Rolls, which is a heavier car and has the same size wheels, is probably the finest obtainable. I have insisted upon many drivers, who always have American cars, taking the wheel, and their comments have always been most favourable." On both his Rolls-Royce cars we gave him specially light steering, similar to that on the car I use (GAE-19) and we are now trying to give him the same thing on the Bentley, but so far have not succeeded. I think you will be interested to note his comparison with American cars. Handwritten at bottom: Ex 17856. C. Second 7.5 lever ? 4 Finished in stores Were they die forged? No. Hand.
