x1583 To Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/FD.{Frank Dodd - Bodies} Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}14/KW.12.11.34. With the existing starter motor the Bentley cannot be turned over with standard oils in cold weather. We are therefore recommending thin oils in the Instruction Book. The oils we are proposing to recommend are as follows :- Mobiloil AF Wakefield's CW Single Shell Price's Motorine M.{Mr Moon / Mr Moore} We ought to run all our 20/25's and Bentleys in the garage on these oils. Increase in engine noise and improved starting results should be noted. Will you please put Wakefield's CW oil into Bn{W.O. Bentley / Mr Barrington}'s car next time it comes to Derby, and Mobiloil AF into Lp{Mr Lappin}'s car. E-23-AE should run on Single Shell. The cold starting test on 3-B-IV on Wednesday night next should be done on Wakefield's CW. With regard to 21-G-IV, we do not want to prejudice the success of lead bronze bearings by running with an oil with which you have had no experience. We therefore propose to start the test on Castrol XL. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} | ||
