We are sending you the piece which has split off one of the new rear damper link rubbers. It looks as if it is due to a fault in the rubber. Please send some more spares.

Replying to Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Gry.{Shadwell Grylls}4/MH.{M. Huckerby}26.10.38, on the two occasions when we have checked the gearbox temperature, it was 80°c and 82°c respectively, the latter on an Autobahn. We have not checked the rear axle yet. We will try and fit up Negretti thermometers temporarily, and get the ultimate figures reached on the Vatm road.

We will also try Vacuum "BB" in the gearbox.

You will note from the Daily Report that the Klingerite oil seals in the valve spring washers have failed. Six have come right out and most of the others are half out.

Will you please send us 12, (2.B.A.) countersunk screws as used for holding on brake drums. These become very tight and cannot be removed with a standard R.R. screw-driver, and several of the screw heads are becoming badly damaged through having to tap them out with a punch.

We also require a new exhaust manifold. The existing one has shrunk in the usual way, and the face of the rear flange pulled out of square allowing the joint to blow.
