To Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} - from Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} c. to Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} Wor{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager}2/M10/S/24. Re Programme. In reply to your CJ11/E6/3/24 below are replies to the questions mentioned therein:- (1) You are quite right in believing that up to No.50 "T" series the chassis issued will be precisely similar to the chassis which we were issuing before the 1st.November last. (2) It is probable that after 50 of "T" series the chassis will have new front axles, pivots and fixed hubs, suitable for the fitting of front wheel brakes, if Experimental Dept. get through the tests in time; Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} believes he will. (3) Allowing for all holidays, it will mean that we must produce at the rate of 9 chassis per week, to exhaust "T" series by August 30th. as far as Works to Test is concerned. This will guarantee output at the rate of 8 per week, without a gap. (4) Works could deliver - Works to Test - 12 chassis on the 1st.September for exhibition and demonstration purposes, on the understanding that these 12 chassis are E.A.C.III type. If a satisfactory solution has been found of the problems of E.A.C.II by June 1st., and Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} thinks this possible, then these chassis could be E.A.C.II. (5) Re Works' delivery to Test of 8 - E.A.C.II per week, commencing 1st.Nov. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} as mentioned in the previous question, agrees that it should be possible to release E.A.C.II by June 1st. This will give us five months in which to obtain material and manufacture E.A.C.II's. This will enable us to commence delivery to Test of 8 per week, week-ending 1st.Nov. (a) As to whether the Works could produce the 200 sets of brake parts and fit them to cars already issued, in addition to the ordinary production of 8 - 40/50HP chassis, and in addition to the preparation for the regular production of 8 - E.A.C.I's - Works to Test - 1st.Nov., the Works could and would deal with the conversion of the 200 sets of four wheel brake material as under:- | ||
