With reference to the visit that I paid to your Works yesterday as a result of your letter of the 13th inst. addressed to Mr Turner of Salford Electrical Instruments Ltd., I wish to thank you for the kind reception given to me by Mr Whitehead and Mr Clarke. We would be greatly obliged if the magneto left with Mr Clarke - one of our S.H.6170 type - could be given a thorough test, and as we feel that this type of machine possesses advantages that are particularly desirable in a car which has great flexibility on high speed work, we hope that you can see your way clear to give the magneto an extended trial on one of your chassis that is in daily use by someone who is particularly keen on refinements of running, which we understand perfectly to be one of your special requirements. As mentioned to Mr Clarke, we would be prepared to finish these magnetos in any way that you desired, or to make any alterations required by you that could be reasonably done without interfering too seriously with our Tool equipment and methods of production. Should you require further samples in order to have a more extended test, we would be more than pleased to send them under any terms that you might desire.
