Dear Sirs,

Appointment of Assistant in Experimental Department

In further reply to your letter of April 20th. I wish to say that after consulting with the Professor of Engineering here, I am able to put forward a very promising man. This is A.{Mr Adams} Dacre Wilson.

Professor David told me verbally that he has not had a better man than Wilson for very many years. He sits for his degree examination in June and Professor David tells me in strict confidence that Wilson is certain to get first-class in Honours.

In addition to his ordinary undergraduate work he has been working out for Professor David theoretical problems associated with efficiencies of internal combustion engines for various kinds of fuels. Professor David thinks that Wilson's report on this work will be very good.

Further, apart altogether from his exceptional ability, Wilson has personal qualifications of a very high order indeed. He wishes to go into industry, otherwise Professor David would have retained him for research work for at least two years.

I enclose a summarised statement regarding this candidate's training and qualifications.

Yours faithfully,

William R Grist

Secretary
