HOUR GLASS STEERING WORMS.

Referring to our conversation on the Production of Steering Worms in the Rolls-Royce Factory, it is understood that we would not be committing ourselves in any way in undertaking the manufacture of these parts because the Patent Rights and Licence of the Adamant Engineering Company have expired therefore we are free to proceed with the Manufacture of these parts.

We would, however, prefer to have confirmation of this because it will mean placing on order Machines and Equipment to the sum of £2,100. 0. 0d.

When MacWilliams visited America in connection with Gear Production the Production of Steering Cams was also dealt with and he had produced at The Fellows Gear Shaper Company some steering cams for test, i.e. -

Two Phantom lll Steering Cams.

One 25/30 Steering Cam.

- the object of having these produced was to prove out on test that they would be satisfactory and would give the steering efficiency required on test.

It is understood that these have not yet been tested. The 25/30 of course will, it is agreed, be of no particular interest (but incidentally the equipment which has been recommended will produce the Cams for Wraith and any other steering required for our Chassis Types).

The Cams in question were handed to Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Hdy.{William Hardy} and you may consider it necessary to confirm that these are satisfactory before giving instructions to proceed with the equipment referred to. We shall be glad to have instructions as quickly as possible.
