Bentley Motors, Ltd., Derby.............Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} Levallois Srl/Crn.16.1.35. re: chassis B 179 AE - Mr. F.{Mr Friese} Edmond-Blanc. Mileage: 24,000 kms. I have already spoken to you about this chassis, and I think you will be interested in the following remarks :- After test and examination of the chassis, we find that the under-mentioned work will have to be executed. Incidentally, as I have already told you, this car is rather hardly driven :- 1. O.S.R. axle tube cracked where bolted to axle casing. 2. Front shock absorbers loose on chassis. 3. Bolts holding front engine member to chassis are very loose. The owner also complains about the low output of the dynamo, causing the battery to run down when he does a lot of night driving. The output of the dynamo is about 9 to 10 amps. Can you give us any information as to whether the dynamo output can be increased ? Any information you may be able to impart will be of great help, as we have had quite a number of similar complaints from other owners. The performance of the engine appears to be quite good, apart from rather bad detonations, which we think are due to bad petrol. The N.S.F. axle pivot pin bush has seized up, due to lack of lubrication. Do you know of any modifications which could be carried out to overcome this trouble ? This is the second case we have found within a very short while.
