-2- Fork End Pins. No.1 End. Front B Pin. One leg, broken off at head, had come away, the remainder of the pin stayed in position, and showed extensive polishing on the stem. No.2 End. Rear A Pin. Badly worn at the back of the head, polished on stem. No.3 End. Front B Pin. Missing. No.4 End. Rear A Pin. Slight polish on head, otherwise good. No.5 End. Front B Pin. One leg broken off where turned over. Worn at back of head and polished on stem. No.6 End. Rear A Pin. Badly worn at back of head and polished on stem. Blade End Pins. No.1 End. B Pin. Slightly worn at back of head, polished on stem. One leg broke off at turned over part on attempting to remove it. No.2 End. A Pin. Slight wear at back of head; slightly polished on stem. No.3 End B Pin. Worn at back of head polished on stem. No.4 End. A Pin. Considerable wear at back of head, polished on stem. No.5 End B Pin. Missing. No.6 End A Pin. Considerable wear at back of head, polished on stem. From these results we see that the correctly fitted pins survived the test satisfactorily. Of the loosely fitted ones two came out completely, and two had partly broken and were in danger of coming out, the rest were all showing signs of wear, in most cases serious. It should be noted that in the two cases where the pins had come out, the nuts remained tight showing no signs of slacking back. RB{R. Bowen}/L.H.Hall. | ||
