X.4079b - TALLER TYPE IGNITION COILS IN REDMANOL CASES.

We have now made up in the Expl. Dept. three of the taller type coils in stabalite cases which are at present being made as standard. We propose that after these have run for a considerable total number of miles satisfactorily, to have these changed into redmanol cases, and then allow to run on the experimental cars.

We are not advocating that we are in a position to use redmenol cases as standard, but we do not think that experimental work with moulded coil cases should be entirely dropped.

It will be remembered that we already have one coil (on chassis 7GII) of the present standard, but in a redmanol instead of a stabalite case. So far this coil has given no trouble even under the worst conditions of experimental running (with an additional spark gap) to which it has been subjected, these conditions being retarded spark, weak mixture and full throttle.
