X4601 Mem. from Wd{Mr Wood/Mr Whitehead}: c. to Ev.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} c. to Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} c. to RH{R. Hollingworth} Wd{Mr Wood/Mr Whitehead}5/WJ15.2.24. 40/50 HP. Chassis - 12-EM. 10,000 Miles Trial Run. Referring to mine Wd{Mr Wood/Mr Whitehead}3/NJ23.1.24 and the visit of the Dunlop Co's Chief Inspector, Mr.Turrall, on the 24th ult., we are now in receipt of a letter dated 14th inst. from the Dunlop Co. signed by Col.Matthew, as follows:- "With reference to your esteemed letter of 30th "ult. and confirming previous correspondence, also the "Conference held at your Works. The writer has "reviewed the whole situation very thoroughly, and begs "to give you below condensed replies to the three "points raised by you. 1. The apparent irregularity of tension in the outer spokes has been carefully noted, and will have special attention for the future. 2. We agree that the damage to the enamel on rear wheels can be obviated by wind and plat- form modifications. The enamel is not defective. 3. The inside of all Dunlop straight rims is now coated with zinc by the Shoop piston process. This is more effective than any kind of paint whatever. "If you desire to go into the matter further, the "writer will be very glad to visit your Works next week, "say any day except Monday next, when he has an important "engagement here. I shall be glad if all concerned will let me know whether they wish Col.Matthew to come here next week to further discuss this matter. Wd.{Mr Wood/Mr Whitehead} | ||
