make for replacement in the United States, a consignment of which is now at Southampton Docks awaiting Customs clearance.

I could go more fully into this matter and explain the special features of the plate, if I see you at the Olympia Show, should it be of interest to you.

In the meantime, I enclose the following papers with regard to the batteries.

(1) Illustrated catalogue, which you will see is not of a technical nature, but merely for commercial purposes.

(2) Reports of tests of some of their batteries made during the war, and of an earlier construction than the ones which have come over.

(a) Tests by The Oakland Co.
(b) Tests by The Cadillac Co.,

I shall be obliged if you will treat these papers as confidential, as I understand that they are the original copies, and I should be tlad if you would return them to me after your people have looked into them.

I think you will see from the reports that the construction of the actual batteries, as submitted to the Cadillac Company, was probably faulty, but this a matter apart from the specially designed plate which is the thing in which we are interested, and which we desire to import for building into batteries in this country, if upon test they prove to be superior to the plate construction as used at present in this country.
