Referring to your note re 4.MR, you will have received *Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/FDB/JH.28.3.39. denoting the work carried out while this car was at Derby.

We do not understand Mr. Pomeroy's reference to the engine of this car requiring tuning up. We shall be interested to know what he means by this observation, and should be glad if he would qualify his remarks. In any case, the running of the car was standard when it left Derby.

With regard to oil on the servo, you will observe that the car was suffering from this trouble when it arrived here, and steps were taken to remedy the defect by fitting new parts from production.

In view of the recurrence of the trouble we have gone into the matter and find that the parts supplied by the Works were incorrect. It is not yet clear whether this was due to a D.O. error or a manufacturing error, but the matter is being investigated. The pieces were not suspected as they had passed the Works' inspector.

The defect may be present on other 'M' series cars, and we are issuing a Depot Sheet accordingly.

Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}
