To BJ. from Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} c. to Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} X7770 Hsl/LG16.12.27. EXPERIMENTAL CHASSIS WORK. We should like your agreement that we can proceed with 3 complete sports Phantom chassis, and 2 dummy chassis of the same type to be sent to the coachbuilders. One of these has already been delivered. 90% of the pieces on the Sports chassis will be the present standard. It is intended that 2 of these chassis will be delivered to Sales, the other one will be used for 10,000 miles test. It will also be necessary for us to modify the present Sports Phantom to bring it up to date. We are now also receiving instructions to build an EAC.10. chassis. This is a complete new chassis throughout. New frame. " springs. " engine. " gearbox. " axle. " dashboard. " steering. " radiator. " undershields. " starter - etc.etc. As a very approximate cost, we should say that this new car is likely to cost £20,000 . We arrive at this by the fact that we have spent approximately £9000 to produce a new chassis (EAC.7.) when using the present Phantom engine and gearbox. We consider that the new engine and gearbox will at least double the cost. contd :- | ||
