Owners Complaint Report No. K.197.

We see it is suggested that the repairs to the axle on this car should be carried out free of charge, in spite of the fact that the car is over four years old and has run 48,000 miles.

Whilst we agree that a failure such as this is hard to justify, we do feel that after 48,000 miles the Owner should legitimately pay something for axle repairs. In a case such as this, we suggest that we should give the Owner the new parts necessary, and charge him for the labour involved in fitting them. After all, even if the Owner thinks it is only a defective ball race, the labour of stripping and re-assembling the axle box would be just as much as is involved in fitting new gears.
