re - Monthly Return of
Standardisation Sheets - 40/50 HP.

I note that on your return dated 2nd instant under sheets that are in course of circulation there appears the item "Gearbox with s/m second gear". At the same time your return shows two items which are down for introduction at the 51st. in 'T'.

In September last under ref. BY/Cgh.{W Clough}1/G.11.9.34. we were advised that the second speed s/m gearbox would be introduced at the 51st. in 'T', and from that we have naturally been expecting that this gearbox would come through at that point. At the same time, seeing that the standardisation sheet has not been signed apparently, we are beginning to wonder whether we are really to get the second speed s/m box at the 51st chassis. If so, chassis must be already on test with it, because we have already received over 45 chassis in 'T' series, so that chassis with this gearbox should normally be due to S. in about a fortnight's time. Can you please confirm that we are to receive this at that point, i.e. the 51st. ?

At the same time we should be very glad to know what are the benefits to be derived from the 'semi-expanding carburetter enlarged' in the case of the 40/50 and the 'modified carburetter' in the case of the 20/25, for both of which items standardisation sheets are in course of circulation. Is the alteration to the carburetter in the case of the 20/25 likely to increase or decrease petrol consumption.

We also notice 'shortened throttle ignition levers on steering column' for the 20/25 but no mention of this is made for the 40/50, although we are naturally just as anxious to have them on the 40/50 as on the 20/25. Is that just an oversight, or is it not intended so far as you know at present to bring them in on the 40/50 chassis ?
