BI/MS. (4) c. Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} c. Da{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}/EV.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} c. Da{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}/ID. DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}4/G.9.4.38. File WYMAN BENTLEY 50 - EXHAUST SYSTEM. 823 Please receive herewith E.CD.609 Tail Pipe (Swan Neck) Exhaust System - Bentley 50. The exhaust system generally is the same as for Bentley 111, except for the alterations shown on this design viz. the silencer is 6.000 longer than the B.3 silencer, to suit the increased length of chassis frame, and the exhaust tail pipe is carried over the axle instead of below it, to allow of the increased axle rebound. These alterations are in accordance with FD.{Frank Dodd - Bodies}93 Bentley 50 chassis layout. We shall not be sending any further design for the longer silencer, as we have no particulars of the internal construction of the B.3 silencer. It should be noted that a hole is required in the rear part of the near side member of the frame cross to allow the exhaust pipe to pass through. Will Da{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}/EV.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} please note the clearance required below the rear seat for the tail pipe. Will you please detail and instruct experimentally for the Bentley 50 car. DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} | ||
