WALLER Do you know what this man complains of Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} Gold AC S/W... C. to He: BY: -> Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} C5/C8.12.38 Re F.A.HALL, ESQ. 261. I enclose herewith copy of letter received from Mr.Frank Hall, whom you will remember as being rather difficult. From a synopsis I have had made from our records, it would appear that:- On his first car No. B-45-BL he made no complaint at all of the steering. On his second car, B-164-FB, he said the steering was exceptionally bad. The car was sent back to you again and was still not satisfactory. The car later went to K.{Mr Kilner} who did nothing to the steering beyond checking the wheel balance and tyre pressures and track, and they could not produce any pull to one side. There was no further complaint of steering on this car. His third car No. B-6-JD.{J. Draper - Frames} he bought new in January 1937. He sent it to you in the following April for attention to the steering. You carried out running adjustments, including increased cross steering tube poundage. The mileage was only 2468 at this time. There does not appear to be any further complaint on this car. The fourth, and present car No. B-110-LS Mr.Hall took delivery of in January of this year, and it was not until July that he sent it toyou for decarbonising and accident repairs, when he complained of the steering. You appear then to have tightened up the steering column on the frame and dash, and adjusted the joint of the steering column. There does not appear to be any further complaint, although we sent a man to attend to the electrical system in September and again in October; on neither of these occasions was any complaint made of the steering. Will you please let me know if you have any suggestions you can make in regard to the last part of his letter, as you are no doubt aware of what his peculiar requirements are. C. | ||
