of the weight carried.

The back number plate was knocked off on one of the corners and went over the side of the road. This was not the first time this plate had been hit. This standard position is really too low. The front wings also get hit if you are taking corners which require full lock (See photograph B)

Fifth day. This day's run included the two Autostrata from Como, Milan and Turin, and 102 miles were covered at an average of 75 m.p.h.. The Galibier was also climbed at the end of the day in an effortless way which I have never experienced before. Once again the water temperature was under 80°.

When driving fast between Como and Turin the water temperature varied between 78° and 95° owing to the wind pressure closing the shutters, while the oil pressure dropped 7 lbs below the usual average pressure owing to the oil getting very hot.

Sixth day. During the day's run, while trying to keep a set average speed which meant going down one of the smaller passes using third gear for accelaration, and braking rather hard before the corners, after a short time the brakes became very ineffective owing presumably to their getting very hot.

SUMMARY.

Body Details. 1. Back number plate is too low.

2. Front wings have too little clearance when on full lock at outside edge (Photo B)

3. Dust enters luggage compartment making the toolbox deep in dust. It also enters the fitted suitcases and makes one clothes very dusty.

4. Window winder and door handles rattle owing to their getting very loose.

5. Windroar round body is the most tiring feature of a long run and makes it almost impossible to talk without raising ones voise very considerably.
