to EF. from Da{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}/Ev.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} copy to J.E.Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} Mr.Burton. ORIGINAL S. S. Da{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}/Ev{Ivan Evernden - coachwork}2/28.8.28. X7830 X7500 X7430 X7311 DRIVING SEAT POSITIONS. We send herewith N.Sch.2646-8. shewing the following features for "C", "D", & "E". Type steering on "S.S". The Special Angle Steering should be left over for the present. PEDALS. The pedals for "D" & "E" type steering are exactly the same. (see N.Sch.2671.) Those for "C" type only differ from these in the angle and position of the pedal plates. Would Derby kindly set these out. FOOTBOARDS & DASHBRACKETS. These will be the same for "C". "D" & "E" type steering. A design will follow in due course. STEERING COLUMN. Columns "D" & "E" are the same length and are alike. The "C" type column has a separate length. The column itself is that used on E.A.C.7, except that we have to send you a scheme for the 18.750ins. dia. steering wheel. The support bracket for the columns in each case is that on N.Sch.2210. We believe that this information will enable Derby to instruct the steering columns. CASH DASH. The dashboard is the same as that for E.A.C.8. except for the modifications shewn on these schemes and N.Sch.2671 & 2659. If derby will set out the castings, and layout the wiring etc. as for the latest E.A.C.8. we will send instructions for the moved position of the autovac tank. SIDE LEVER MECHANISM. The brake lever and quadrant are those for India 3, but having lengths and angular positions as given on N.Sch.2646. The gear lever and gate scheme is that used on INDIA 3, and modified as shewn onn N.Sch.2634. It will be noticed that there are only two lengths of gear lever and brake lever. "C" & "D" type being alike. Also, there are only two angular setting of the levers, "D" & "E" type being alike. It may be found advisable to offer to fit either the "C" type lever to "D" type cars when a body which is wide is called for, or the "E" type lever when the body is streamline. This could be indicated on the Chassis Print. We hope that this will be sufficient information to enable Derby to set out the side levers. Would you kindly arrange for Mr.Burton to have a print of N.Sch 2646-8. if this is in order. DA{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}/EV.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} | ||
