To EP{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer} - from Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager}

Wor{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager}2/M14/6/25.

Unveiling Ceremony.

BJ. instructs me to ask you to arrange for about a dozen 40/50HP and 20HP chassis or cars to be standing inside and outside the Works and in odd places, with the engines running very very quietly. Will you kindly arrange this.

I suggest that possibly we ought to have two or three complete cars with bodies from Capt.Hellam about the yard, running very quietly, and that Mr.Platford could arrange for 4 - 40/50HP test chassis and 4 - 20HP chassis placed in various places round the yards, running very quietly.

I am going to ask BJ.to agree to not running any cars outside the Works, because these might interfere with the transport; as you are aware there will be a large number of transport vehicles and possibly a large number of cars in which the guests will come themselves. On this point I will let you know later.

Will you also arrange that if any chassis are about with testing bodies, the bodies should be clearly marked in large letters "Testing Body No.187" and so on. I shall be glad if EP.{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer} will get on to this job at once. I think the letters should be about 3" in size.

Will you also give instructions throughout the testing departments that no car or chassis should be run in or near the Works whilst the visitors are at the Works, as EJ. states that we cannot depend on those who are running them keeping them down to their utmost silence.

We are likely to have visitors at the Works from two o'clock to about 4-30, so for two and a half hours no cars or chassis should be running about

Will Mr.Platford also arrange that at least three test houses shall be running, one with a Falcon, one with an Eagle and one with a Condor, also that the houses for running in 20HP and 40/50HP engines are working.

He should also arrange to have a 20HP and 40/50HP on the dynamometers. These operations should be carried oncontinuously during the time that the visitors are with us.
