X.430 - MAGNETOS FOR 40/50 CHASSIS. X SYO2

It appears from accounts received from the Test Dept, customers and from U.S.A., that our present standard Watford type E.6 magneto is not a good enough machine for the R.R. car.

The following is a resume of magnetos which have been suggested for this purpose or which are under consideration at the present time.

There have been sent over from U.S.A. a number of American made machines, comprising :-

U.S.A. Bosch Z.R.6.
" " B.6
Eisemann.
Dixie Aero 648.
Berling type E.61
" " F.61.
" " D.63.

(1) The U.S.A. Bosch Z.R.6 was reported upon (see He5/LG20.7.20) by Mr. Hives and has done some running on the experimental cars.

So far as we know the remaining magnetos on this list have not been placed on experimental cars, but have only been subjected to inspection by Mr. Hives and ourselves, of which inspection we have made reports, as elsewhere explained however, we propose carrying these magnetos through a series of comparative bench tests, unless otherwise instructed.
