Exol. Report. X.No.4653. EFCl/T6.2.26. To R.{Sir Henry Royce} from EFC. c. BJ. CJ. c. E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} Da.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} c. Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} By.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} c. EP.{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer} Rg.{Mr Rowledge} ORIGINAL IGNITION COILS WITH FINER PRIMARIES. Ignition coils with finer primary windings taking considerably reduced primary current in the ratio of about 3 to 2, have given very satisfactory results on a number of different experimental chassis. There has been one 10,000 mile test recently completed on a 40/50 HP. chassis (8-EX), 4,000 miles of which were run with one of these finer primary winding coils. Another similar coil is fitted to 20 HP. chassis 10-GIII which is about to run 10,000 miles in France. This may save the platinum points and help to enable us to use tungsten contact points. EFC. | ||
