CONTINUATION DONALD SESSIONS & COMPANY LTD. - 2 - with this set two handles; one geared 6:1 and the other 9:1, to enable you to ascertain which is the most suitable ratio. CONFUSION OF NEAR-SIDE AND OFF-SIDE JACKS ON 40/50 CHASSIS . It appears there has been some misunderstanding with regard to the different rotations of our Jack and that a number of Chassis have been fitted at your Works with Jacks turning in the wrong direction. I have now issued instructions that all Jacks shall be clearly stamped: "NEAR-SIDE REAR" "OFF-SIDE REAR" "FRONT" this will avoid any further trouble in this direction. DEFECTIVE SHAFT RIVETTING ON 40/50 JACKS . It is decided to re-call all Jacks prior to the last delivery; this last delivery having corrected rivet, and to re-fit all Jacks which have been supplied. We, of course, admit complete responsibility for this defect and will co-operate with you in every possible way to have the matter speedily put right. If you will despatch any Jacks you may have at Derby to our Works (Messrs. Abingdon Works (1931) Ltd., Tyseley, Birmingham) these will be immediately modified and returned to you. With regard to cars which have left your Works and which are still at Coachbuilders in London or elsewhere, if you will be good enough to let me know where these are, I will undertake to have the Jacks changed over here. At the same time, I shall be able to correct any sets which have been fitted by yourselves which are of the wrong rotation. However, I await your instructions with regard to this matter and you may rest assured I will waste no time in putting the whole matter right. SMALL TYPE JACK FOR EXPERIMENTAL PURPOSES. You now have in your possession a set of Lighter Jacks from the ones supplied for the 40/50 Chassis which you require to test out on a special car. Unfortunately, the writer did not leave the operating handle to go with this set. This is being sent on to you, together with another handle of different gear ratio in case this should be needed. I shall await with interest your remarks on this set after it has been tested and I shall be very pleased to co-operate in any way in this matter. If you consider these lighter Jacks able to stand the strain of the 25 h.p. Rolls Chassis, I shall be very pleased to quote you for this model for standard equipment as the price will obviously be considerably less than the larger Jacks. Yours faithfully, For DONALD SESSIONS & COMPANY LIMITED. Managing Director. | ||
