R.R. 235A (500 T) (S.D. 408. 26-4-17.) Bm. 2/156/13. X.3676 To Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} from Bn.{W.O. Bentley / Mr Barrington} Copy to Bl. Da.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} CK.{Mr Clark} X.3614. X.3548. Bn{W.O. Bentley / Mr Barrington}9/W31.10.19. RE AMERICAN CHASSIS. Mr. Johnson telephoned this afternoon that he has received a cable from Mr. Olley stating that they agree to carry on with the manufacture of the standard right hand chassis until such time as the new 50 H.P. chassis is available, and OY, also asks whether we intend to supply any material and parts for the right hand chassis to be built forthwith in America. Mr. Johnson gives the decision that the policy shall be for America to proceed with the present right hand chassis until the new 50 H.P. chassis is ready, and he instructs that all work in connection with the proposed left hand chassis for America shall be stopped, forthwith. Mr. Johnson has communicated this decision to Mr. Royce. With regard to the supply of material, Mr. Johnson prefers that America should be self supporting, and if we confirm this view instructions to this effect are to be cabled to OY. Bn.{W.O.
