27-EX - R's NEW CAR.

I went to Park Ward's Works to-day.

This car is undoubtedly receiving special attention, judging by the number of men swarming all over it and, as far as can be seen at present, it will be ready for delivery on Tuesday next the 9th instant or the following morning.

But this must not be taken as definite.

There is still a lot to be done and it is too early yet to make a reliable promise.

Park Wards might have done more before they received the chassis, but as it turns out it is just as well they didn't.

They claim the dash is ½" narrower at each side at the top than at the bottom. This necessitated altering their scuttle framework.

In addition, the petrol tank has a filler with a new quick action cap, whereas Park Wards claim they were not warned that it would in any way differ from standard. To operate this cap it will be necessary to give still more clearance and enlarge the recess in the luggage container. Unfortunately, the framework of the luggage container comes just where the recess has to be enlarged, so that the alteration is not too simple.

In addition, Park Wards say that since the arrival of the chassis men have been to their Works to modify the sub-frame.

I am merely mentioning all these points to shew that the mounting of the body is not quite a straight-forward job.

I shall be going along to Park Wards again during the week and will let you know how I find things then.
