Handwritten Note (top left): June 17th / HS{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} says

L.H. P.II Chassis.

Below I have listed some of the outstanding experimental work which appears to be needed on these chassis before full instructions could be issued for the 200 order :-

(1) Bumpers. Collision test to determine effectiveness of mountings, etc. Particulars of "Underwriters Test" have been supplied.
Handwritten Note for (1): Rio designing a bumper fixing and this is not yet ready for test

(2) Clutch. Heating test. Comparative test to determine resistance to damage from heat due to continuous slipping, fabric on driven disc versus plain driven disc. Also determination as to use of C.I. or steel rubbing surfaces. (Particulars of Springfield tests have been supplied).
Handwritten Note for (2): No necessity to repeat this. Already convinced fabric on discs is superior from this point of view. This is being done. Chassis fitted with both types being run.

(3) Road Springs. Es. has proposed examination of springs off 404-MR to determine their exact relationship to P.II springs, stiffening effect of clamping to axle, internal friction etc.
Handwritten Note for (3): Been done. NG?

(4) Gear-shift. Improvement in gearshift for smoother operation, cure of jingling, cure of excessive sideplay. Determination of operating-freedom with oil cold, etc. See Oy3/DM.{D. Munro}4.6.30.
Handwritten Note for (4): Deb. alterations to design being made at W.W. L&G ON HAND

(5) Horns. Test of various "buzzer" horns.
Handwritten Note for (5): Lucas on job making vibrator horn. OK

(6) Oils. Test with American oils in engine and gearbox. Also with engine oil in C.C.l. See Oy5/DM.{D. Munro}15.4.30 and Worl/T.16.4.30.
Handwritten Note for (6): Being done. OK

(7) Shutter. (a) Test of variation of engine temperature with air temperature. (b) Test of variation in acceleration with engine temperature. See Oy1/DM.{D. Munro}12.5.30.
Handwritten Note for (7): Being done. C.C. NB R.H.

Note: Tests 1,2,3 and 5 are independent of the expl. cars.

Oy.
