Decision to standardise D.W.S. permanent mechanical jacks for the Phantom II chassis.

PHANTOM 11. CHASSIS - D.W.S. JACKS.

The Administration have decided that D.W.S. permanent mechanical jacks should be standardised for Phantom 11. chassis from O.2 series onwards in place of the usual form of screw jack.

One jack is secured to the centre of the front axle by means of suitable clips, and one jack at each end of the rear axle by special brackets.

The jacks, complete with brackets for the front axles, will be supplied by Messrs. D.W. Sessions Ltd., but they will only supply the jacks for the rear axle, as we propose to make the necessary brackets for these in our own Works.

Will you please issue the following detail drawings to the Works etc. in the usual way, with instructions to proceed :-

G.80244 ) Bracket for rear axle jacks.
G.80245 ) R.H. and L.H.

G.80246 ) Clamping bolt for rear axle bracket.

To save time, we are sending an unmounted print of the bracket to the Order Office, so that the pattern can be got moving.

The following stock parts are required for clamping bolts G.80246 :-

K.4316 - 3/8" Locknut .... 16 off per chassis.
K.4413 - Plain Washer .... 8 off per chassis.

We are of the opinion that brackets G.80244 and G.80245 for the rear axle jacks would be quite safe in aluminium, but they should be made in gunmetal until a set of aluminium brackets has been tested experimentally.
