Dear Sirs, In answer to your letter of the 14th.instant, reference Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/RC.{R. Childs}5/JH, addressed for the attention of our Mr.C.E.Robinson, we note that you have modified the Field Coils on your large Dynamo and increased the resistance of the total winding to about 7 ohms, as compared with 6.25 ohms. Your query as to whether this will affect the operation of the C.A.V. Voltage Regulator and of the Lucas regulator mounted on the R.R.1 Unit, we would inform you that 7 ohms resistance will be satisfactory for both types of regulators; we fix 6 ohms as the bottom limit of resistance - actually a higher resistance is an advantage unless the inductance is made abnormally high. Trusting this information will clear this point satisfactorily for you. Yours faithfully, JOSEPH LUCAS LIMITED. Technical Sales Dept. | ||
