Specification No. ELC.7.S.
Lucas regulator type RR.1 (Single Contact).

This regulator as received from the makers, is to be complete with base, but without the cut-out which will be fitted by R.R.

The overall dimensions and finish of this unit to be as shown on drawing DB.{Donald Bastow - Suspensions}1923.

The setting of the unit to be carried out by the makers, and to be such that the operating values are as specified below.

The complete unit should first be examined to see that all connections are sound and free from loose bodies likely to cause short circuit.

For purposes of checking the operating values, the regulator shall be mounted in a vertical position, similar to what it will occupy on the car, and connected up to a standard R.R. small shunt dynamo, a variable load resistance, ammeter and voltmeter and switches, as indicated in the diagram.

The following tests shall then be carried out :-

(1) With the regulator in a cold condition, the dynamo shall first be run up to a speed of 4,000 r.p.m. on open circuit, at which speed it shall be maintained during the test. The circuit through terminal A1 shall then be closed, by the respective switch, and the current gradually increased, until the regulator volts, measured at D and E, have fallen to 15.5. The current should then lie between the limits of 14.5 and 18.5 amperes.

(2) The dynamo shall again be run up on open circuit as in (1) but now the circuit through terminal 'a' shall be closed, and the current gradually increased, until the regulator volts have fallen to 15.5.

Cont'd.{John DeLooze - Company Secretary}
