SERVO ASSISTANCE WITH CHANGE SPEED LEVER.

It has been agreed that we should rig up a vacuum operated servo to assist change speed. This is already in production on the Studebaker, an Instruction Manual for which we attach. The main principle is, that should the vacuum fail, changing gear is still possible with a very considerable manual effort. In our case, we do not see any advantage in moving the change speed lever on to the dashboard from the column, so are proposing to leave it where it is but reduce its length, so that it cannot get in the way of anyone entering the car in whatever gear it is.

We should like you to discuss the problem with Hdy{William Hardy}, we should then like to talk round with you the best method of getting the job running experimentally.
