X 3960 RE BRAKE LINING. X 3893 X.1296

We are forwarding to you by freight five samples of brake lining material manufactured by five different American manufacturers. The samples are labelled with the manufacturers' names as follows:-

Raybestos Company. Bridgeport, Conn.
General Asbestos & Rubber Co., New York.
Dominion Asbestos & Rubber Co., New York.
Standard Woven Fabric Co., Walpole, Mass.
Thermoid Rubber Co. Trenton, N.J.

These probably represent the best linings made in this country and it is our desire to have them tried out by the experimental department so that they may report on the suitability of any or all of them for use on see the American car. The Thermoid lining has been used with good success by Mr. Caswell at the Long Island Service Station.

If none of the samples are considered satisfactory, it will be necessary for us to arrange for a supply of "Feroda" lining from England, and, as this will take time to arrange for, we shall be pleased to receive an early report from you.

Sgd. R.J. Allen.
