1328 Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Std.2/MH.{M. Huckerby} 30th. December 1937. Messrs. S.Smith & Sons Ltd., Cricklewood Works, London, N.W.2. For the attention of Mr. Grosé. Dear Sirs, The writer understands from our Accounts Dept. that they have an invoice from you on which we are charged 15/6d. plus 6d. postage for 1 - x.30065 BV. type thermostat - this thermostat being a sample one with an opening temperature of 78°C, which you agreed to send us in return for the previous sample (which opened at 68°C) left with the writer by Mr. Grosé. This sample thermostat we understood was to be invoiced on loan account, in case it does not suit our purposes. If this is so there should of course, be no charge. We are, however, requiring a second identical thermostat for our tests (which we are now about to commence) and are prepared to pay for this unit. In order to avoid unnecessary cancelling of invoices etc. we suggest, therefore, that you supply this second unit (to open between 78° and 80°C) free of charge and we pay for the unit already invoiced. If you agree to this arrangement please advise us as soon as possible and we will issue instructions accordingly. We would like to receive this second thermostat as soon as possible. Yours faithfully, for ROLLS-ROYCE LTD. | ||
