CAST IRON UNIT IN 29.G.

The work that we can do on this unit seems to me to fall into three categories:-

(1) Try and see whether we can retain a smooth engine with the low front engine mount designed for the 8-cyl.

(2) Also, try and see if we can get away with the rear engine mounting simplified and in the cross.

(2) Fit another engine unit in the car, and see whether we can get a satisfactory result with the harmonic damper. At the same time, the new unit should have a camshaft which we expect to give good idling. Logically, the duplex system should assist idling, and you might just check up whether this is so before the present engine is removed from the chassis.

(3) We require a confirmation test on the tin sump on 3.B.50 as soon as this is completed.
