We have recently made a disc exactly similar to the above, but thinner, as sketch below, we estimate this would increase the deflection for a given load by about 50%, but since the deflection is probably not increased, the stress will be lower. One of these thinner discs is running satisfactorily on 29.G.VI, and was made to sketch Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}584. We suggest you have GB.4417 retraced with a new number, with the following alterations, this new part to superceed GB.4417. .425 R .110 (.020 LESS) ±2 .080 (.010 LESS) ±2 OTHERWISE AS GB-4417.
